Ebay Selling - Competing Against Your Own Auction - To Be Avoided!

Keeping tabs on supply and demand is very important on eBay. If you forget this rule here, it will lead to disaster. You must remember that a surplus of products of a similar nature will more often than not bring down the prices.

The ‘Deceptiveness’ of eBay

The site is an online marketplace, with a single point of entry. All you need to do is have an internet connection and you can access the website immediately. Though, it gives one the choices of retail purchase, auctions are the most popular format here. Problem emerges when; a seller lists down multiple items to sell all at once. This does not bode well, as it’s already a crowded market and thus might not result in effective selling. This also means that the seller is competing against his own auction

Avoid Competing Again Your Own Auction

When you sell on eBay, be sure to time your listing well. If your buyers market is large, then it can support the selling of a large number of concurrent items. Your sales price won’t be hurt if your products are listed, close to the time, when people are buying rather than selling.

Staggering of listings will also go a long way in minimizing you competing against your own items. Configure your listings in a way such that they end on successive, days or weeks, meaning that they should not end all at once. Be very wary of the simultaneous auction of your own products on eBay. You might do this in the hope of speeding up the process of selling, but the result might just be a lowering of your selling price, which would result in losses.
